FACCIOLI PALACE

The current layout of the building dates back to the eighteenth century, but some elements, including the internal floors in Venetian terrace, indicate refurbishments dating back to the end of the nineteenth century. The interior presents various frescoed rooms, some of which in Liberty style. Here lived Baldassarre Faccioli, born in Montagnana in 1841, who was lieutenant of artillery and took part in the Expedition of the Thousand with Giuseppe Garibaldi. A plaque, positioned under the loggia of Palazzo Sammicheli (now the Town Hall), bears his memory. Wounded at the age of twenty and decorated, he died in Fiesso Umbertiano on 17 September 1866 due to illness.
