Who We Are

The Associazione delle Città Murate del Veneto was officially established in January 1997 under the patronage of the Veneto Region and on the initiative of the Veneto Regional Council of Italia Nostra. The aim of the Association is to promote initiatives designed to raise awareness of these towns and to protect, safeguard, conserve and enhance them.

The initiative currently comprises 34 municipalities spread across six provinces, representing communities that identify with their history and the legacy left by their ancestors.
The plains, foothills and mountainous areas, along with the shores of Lake Garda, are home to these jewels, which represent living elements of a region that wishes to offer visitors the very best it has.

These walled towns are living testimonies to art and a refined culture of ‘good living’. They are the result of a settlement history in which continuous technical innovation is accompanied by a historical and artistic heritage spanning thousands of years

Veneto is a land of artists, architects, writers and people with strong local ties, with towns that are still little known and off the beaten track, rich in historical heritage and a diverse culinary tradition, skilfully showcasing its finest produce and the preparation of ancient and reimagined recipes with their distinctive and inimitable flavours.
